NESS developed a nature-inspired concept that honours the character of the original architecture while introducing a fresh, contemporary identity rooted in wellness, community, and connection to nature.
Working closely with the owner, NESS established a cohesive design direction that reflected the Freshouse brand and brought clarity to the transformation of the historic building.

The existing structure needed to be adapted into an efficient retail café while maintaining the architectural character that made the building unique.
Modern building systems had to be integrated within the older envelope, and the design needed to feel warm and inviting rather than institutional or overly commercial. The project also required ongoing coordination to maintain the design vision throughout an owner-led construction process.
Every element was considered in relation to the customer experience – from entering and ordering to sitting, gathering, and pausing throughout the day.
