Project Overview

A Ground-Floor Renovation In King City Designed For A Busy Professional Household.

The client was seeking a space that felt warm, inviting, and effortless to live in. The goal was to create a main floor that supports daily routines while adapting easily for gathering, working, relaxing, and entertaining.

NESS led the project from early concept through execution, providing clear design direction and a structured process that brought cohesion, comfort, and functionality to what was once a dim and disconnected space.

The Client

A Senior Vice President Balancing A Demanding Professional Life With An Active Household.

With limited time to manage details, the client was looking for a trusted design partner who could lead the process, coordinate decisions, and deliver a space that feels resolved and easy to maintain.

Their vision was a main floor that felt welcoming and lived-in, without sacrificing organization, durability, or flexibility for everyday life.

The Challenge

Before The Renovation, The Main Floor Felt Closed Off, Visually Dated, And Lacking A Clear Design Identity.

The living room struggled to support daily use, with inadequate seating, limited storage, and finishes that showed wear quickly in a busy household.

Poor lighting and disconnected zones contributed to a darker, less functional environment. While the client had a strong sense of how they wanted the space to feel, they needed professional guidance to bring materials, colours, layout, and lighting together into a cohesive whole, without the stress of managing trades or details themselves.

The Design Approach

NESS Began By Establishing A Clear,
Cohesive Design Direction.

NESS began by establishing a clear, cohesive design direction to eliminate the fragmented “mix-and-match” feel of the existing space. The strategy focused on improving light, flow, and everyday usability while introducing warmth through layered materials and a refined colour palette.

This project was especially meaningful in helping the family rediscover a sense of enjoyment in their home, creating a space they genuinely look forward to spending time in.
